The Story
What's going on? The afternoon has passed and the evening has arrived. Where the afternoon was very structured, the evening provides more room for the unconscious mind. Two primordial beast are arriving, like cave paintings. There is a harvest of plants floating down. Primal man would sit by the fire in the evening. Remnants of the day are visible. It's a pretty monolithic thing, the evening.

From the blog
This is part 3 of my Doctor Kline series. It is now evening.

Doctors are everywhere in the media these days. And not only in the media also in the hospitals of course, which are filling up with corona patients needing life support. Doctors and nurses are becoming heroes; they work long hours and run big risks. The corona virus is in the center of our consciousness, all social activity, except for the electronic forms, are fading. Even taking a walk outside with your friends is considered too great a risk.

Of course, the Kline I am referring to in these works is not a medical Doctor. He is one of my heroes of abstract expressionism, the New York school from the forties and fifties of the last century. The term ‘Calling Doctor Kline’ arose from my unconscious mind as I was painting these works. The phrase has many associations for me. The Doctor as an expert. The doctor as a savior. The doctor knowing things that we don’t. Calling as an activity to summon the genius of the painter Kline. To just name a few. ‘Calling the Doctor’ is a symbol with multiple meanings. Strangely linked to this corona period.
Next stop: the night.
